I hope you love the products that I recommend. Just so you know, I will earn a small commission if you purchase any of the products recommended on this page. I'm super appreciative, because those commissions can help me purchase more great things to review and share with you.
In such a consumerist society, we are often plagued with an abundant amount of choices no matter what it is that we are looking for, and no matter how simple it should be! If there’s a product, know that there is a million other manufacturers making their own version of that very same product! Heck, even things as mundane as disposable razors can leave us in a daze in front of a display of 50 or more different kinds of razors.
Why all of the choices, all likely claiming they’re the best? While I can’t answer this for you, I can certainly give you some pointers on choosing the best razor for you and even point you in the direction of the current best disposable razors on the market today!
What to Look For in a Disposable Razor for Men
When trying to decide on anything, the first and foremost thing that you should look into are the actual product reviews. One of my very favorite places to find reviews for almost anything all in one place is on Amazon. There, you can look up reviews, filter by “verified purchases,” sort by ratings, etc. etc. all in one place. There’s nothing worse than buying a horrible product and then going to write a bad review about it to warn others, only to find that virtually everyone else has the same problems. Save the headache and research first.
Sometimes you are out and about and discovered that you forgot your phone, so simply going on Amazon to read reviews isn’t so, well, simple. In this case, here’s a few things to look for when searching for the best disposable razors for men:
Number of blades: Razors with more blades tend to get a closer shave and not leave those nasty little bleeding nicks as easily. Spare yourself the need to dot your face with toilet paper and look for a razor with a good amount of blades!
Hydration strip: Hydration strips help make the shaving process both quicker and painless, and can help to avoid the dreaded razor burn! I say the thicker the strip, the better!
Special features: Razors these days are really getting fancy! Some are now built with a pivoting ball like some kind of Dyson while others have a vibration feature to stimulate the hair follicles for and even closer shave. Look for razors that have features which appeal to you personally.
Replacement cartridge cost: If you’re eyeballing a razor system, it’s not uncommon for the initial system to be on the cheaper side, usually consisting of a handle and 2 or 3 replacement cartridges. If you have cost in mind, then it’s wise to also check out the cost of replacement cartridges that you’ll be needing in the near future!
Best Men’s Disposable Razor Reviews
Now, I don’t know exactly what it is that you are looking for in a razor, but doing a bit of research, I have found the current three best disposable razors for men on the market today! This is all based on thousands of reviews by consumers such as yourself and all details listed are either from the manufacturer or reviewers!
#1 Schick Hydro 5
This is definitely not your dollar store disposable! Many reviewers would consider the Schick Hydro 5 the best men’s disposable razor on the market. Why do they love it so much? Because the Schick Hydro 5’s durable blades last longer than most, works well on tough beard hair, and has a hydrating gel that conditions skin as it shaves. It also features a really nifty “flip trimmer”, great for neatly cleaning up side burns or getting to those hard to reach places, such as under nose.
The Schick Hydro 5 also offers blades specifically designed for sensitive skin, which cuts down on the friction of the blades against your skin, and increases the lubricant surface area, keeping skin hydrated for up to an hour after shaving. So if you’re constantly dealing with razor burn or dry skin after shaving, definitely consider theses disposable razors for sensitive skin.
Did I mention, the Hydro 5 cartridges are very reasonably priced? These affordable disposable cartridges come in a variety of bulk packs, because who really wants to buy refills more every month, perhaps that’s why they’re offered as a subscription service!
#2 Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide
Welcome another 5 bladed disposable beauty, The Gillette Fushion5 ProGlide. There is no question here, this is a fantastic disposable razor for men, with over 1,800 – 4 or 5 star reviews on Amazon. This razor is definitely a step above it’s predecessor, the basic Fushion5. It uses 5 of Gillette’s finest and thinnest razors for less pull on the skin and reduce the pressure against each glade, providing a more comfortable shave.
The Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide has one particularly interesting feature; a pivoting ball joint, which they call “Flexball technology”. This helps to easily shave each unique contour of your face. It’s like those crazy Dyson Ball vacuums that can glide and swivel every which way, but for your face!
And if you like the idea of a disposable razor with trimmer, yeah… it’s got that too!
#3 Dorco Pace 6 Plus
If you thought 5 blades was a lot, here is the Dorco Pace 6 Plus. Yes, you read that right, 6 blades! This razor touts a reputation for being the “world’s first 6 blade razor with trimmer”. Why is that important? Product tests have shown that increasing the number of blades decreases skin irritation and produces an even closer shave.
The Dorco Pace 6 Plus also features an angled, open flow razor head, which collects less debris while shaving and makes rinsing literally a breeze. A cleaner blade, a cleaner shave! Not to mention, being able to clean your razor properly prevents build up on the blades and corrosion, meaning blades last longer… And with this razor, the blades really last a long time (some reviews mention lasting longer than a month)! I’d say that’s reason enough to give it a try.
As stated earlier, it’s always best to read the reviews firsthand as a manufacturer will gladly toot their own horn when it comes to marketing a product. If you haven’t found your shaving match, then it doesn’t hurt to try one that you haven’t yet… or maybe it does!
